  • Underwater

I have always loved the ocean, I find what lies beneath the depths fascinating. As a child you could never pull me away from the television when there was an underwater program on (you still can't). At one point I had considering becoming a marine biologist, it is definitely a career that I would never get bored of. But, my fear of water has held me back from that dream.

Someday I hope to overcome my phobia and swim with the sharks *smiles* that would be so amazing. Something else I have never gotten the chance to do is swim with dolphins, they are such majestic creatures.

There is just something magical about water, it holds a beauty not many or much can surpass. I find it ironic that I love it so much yet a possess a great  fear of it. I guess I fear it because it is out of my realm, I can't swim fast, if the water is murky I can't see beneath me... if something of the proper size wanted to take me out, it could. But, oh, do I think water is beautiful. And I am fascinated by the creatures that dwell there.

Another thing I have always found just as equally fascinating as the ocean is outer space. They are quite similar when you really think about it. Both are unexplored to it's potential, contain life undiscovered, and hold a beauty that captivates the mind. The ocean and space, two of many of my passions.

I guess I am just drown to the unknown and the strange, ocean life is so different from us, and yet so beautiful. Some fear the unknown... others embrace it. I guess I was one of the lucky few...

  • that is a shame that you fear water.... snorkling is great stuff... and in many places, you will see just about what your picture shows... i do hope you get over your fear....but remember, fear is an illusion... and it only has the power you give it.... hugs...

  • Love the picture!  I am equally fascinated by the sea and outer space.  The two environments are similar.  Odd to me though,  I would ride in a "space ship" without hesitation, but I fear the submarine.  Don't know why.

Ha!  You made an Freudian typo - "I guess I am just drown to the unknown and the strange, ocean life ..."

  • I "drown" in your loveliness, your wit...your wonder. I'm afraid I love you...still. Grandmamaw :beamaboard:

  • I too love the ocean, but am afraid of it at the same time. I remember snorkling once in the ocean and started following some fish when I dipped below my snorkle top. Choke, gag, and I never went again.

  • Fear water?  That's normal for a cat.  But you should definitely wash yourself once in a while :wink-wink:

You are right: water is magical, compare it to air.  Air is great, it contains oxygen, but it just isn't dense enough: you fall through all the way and hit the bottom hard enough to die!!!!

  • i share your fear... thou even looking at your picture gives me the creeps... shivers... I had to move the page so the pictrue was out of my view in order to read... yeah, I know... coocoo...

but I too LOVE space... use to have dreams I was off in space... visitied by aliens... love to stare up... my cousins and I when we would go up to the lake in wisconsin... would send messages to space w/ our flash lights (we were city kids, it was so dark... you had to be able to see our lights from space right?)

funny it was also that lake where my water phobia began, thou it's not so much water but what lives under it...

    ttfn... :birdie:

  • the post you have been waiting for is up....ch-ch-check it out....

  • beneath the waves

    And above the clouds

    Lie our dreams,

    and to them

    Our fears are bound.

    a blue sea crowned

    By a blue heaven,

    bejeweled are each

    By day and by night.

    and of sands

    And of stars,

    We are made

    In awe and wonder.

  • "Some fear the unknown... others embrace it." Thank you for the reminder of how much I've been able to enjoy...
